FLYTICAI
Commerical Space and Special Acitivity Airspace
Improve Flight Safety and Efficiency by modernizing your flight planning and filing process through digitization and integration of dynamic updates

Improve Flight Efficiency through Dynamic updates
-
Optimized Air Traffic Management: Air traffic controllers use dynamic SAA scheduling to minimize disruptions to commercial flights.
-
Flexible Airspace Usage: Modern airspace management allows for temporarily activating SAA, freeing up airspace when not in use.
-
Reduced Delays and Fuel Costs: Efficiently managed SAA helps airlines avoid unnecessary reroutes, saving time and fuel.
Improved Safety through Systems Integration
-
Prevents Airspace Conflicts: By segregating military and high-risk operations from civil aviation, the risk of mid-air collisions is significantly reduced.
-
Ensures Pilot Awareness: Pilots are provided with real-time information about SAA locations, helping them plan safer flight paths.
-
Protects Sensitive Operations: SAA safeguards critical national security activities, preventing unauthorized access to restricted zones.

Space X Starlink Aborted Launch

On January 19, 2025, SpaceX aborted its Starlink launch due to a "potential aircraft in the airspace." Its a great use that combines Space, Special Acitivity, Air Traffic and Flight Planning.

Analysis of ADS-B data
ATC communications and Starlink Altitude Reservation revealed that no aircraft within ADS-B coverage violated the reserved airspace. This raises an important question—was the aircraft undetected by ADS-B? Possibilities include ultralights, drones, or other non-ADS-B-equipped aircraft.
Key areas of Improvement

✅ Improved Collaboration
ATC reportedly monitored the launch via a website. Shouldn’t there be a dedicated communication channel between SpaceX and ATC to coordinate airspace management? Nothing about space launches should be “last minute.”
✅ Better Flight Planning
The flight plan for SWA1131 passed through the Starlink Altitude Reservation. While legal, this placed an additional last-minute workload on ATC to vector the flight through the airspace safely. More proactive coordination could help.
✅ Enhanced Digitization
Today, altitude reservations are only provided in text format (NOTAMs), making them hard to interpret. Why not publish Shapefiles, GeoJSON, or graphical altitude reservations for better integration into flight planning tools?
✅ Improved Reporting
SpaceX should identify and publicly report the “potential aircraft” involved. This would increase transparency and help prevent similar issues in future launches.
