What is Traffic Collision Advisory System (TCAS) Resolution Advisory (RA)?
When Aircrafts come in proximity and are on a potential collision trajectory, the TCAS system alerts the pilots to avoid a collision. The TCAS systems in each plane typically talk to one another and coordinate evasive action if necessary. TCAS notifications to the pilot come in two types – “Traffic Advisories” (TAs) and “Resolution Advisories” (RAs). TA’s are informational in nature, while RA’s can require some action by the pilot. An RA can override ATC instructions, since an RA can be extremely time sensitive
TCAS RA Insights
Flyticai analyzes TCAS RA data to help operators, airspace/airport owners, and regulators to identify near-miss hazards and impacts to operations to improve their safety and operational processes.

Helicopter Safety
Most helos are not required to equip TCAS due to not meeting the weight or off-shore requirements. So knowing the impact of your helicopter operations on other aircraft sharing the airspace is extremely critical to executing safe operations

Why is it important to detect Evasive Action?
Evasive Action is identified as a critical factor in determining near-miss events and the severity of the incidents by the FAA. We detect this critical maneuver using real-traffic data where evasive actions have been taken to help identify the severity of incidents.
